Going Green
After a "guilt trip" from my friend Kelli...we have decided to start recycling. The trash company around here does not offer recycling, but a local family does ( I just found this out the other day). For $10 a month they provide bins and will come and pick up paper, plastic and metal. We just got our bins the other day! Pretty exciting stuff.
Not only are we doing that, but if you know anything about us, you know that we love using paper plates and cups. We'll we are also working on that as well. I bought some new (non disposable) plastic cups and plates and we are saying good-bye to the paper products.
I also have purchased a few reusable grocery bags, but every time I go to the store I forget them in my car. O-well, that'll give me something to work on.
There you go Kelli, your blog posts have inspired me, so it wasn't for nothing.

A Drive Up the Canyon
On Sunday we loaded the kiddos up in the car and took the short drive up the canyon. The kids were in heaven...running around, climbing trees and rocks and playing in the leaves. Does it get any better then that. They were all so sad when we loaded them up in the car to leave. We are getting family pictures taken this week and this was kind of a practice run. I think Sydney is going to be tough. She would not stay in 1 place, it was really hard to get a picture of her, hopefully the professionals will do a better job then me.

Early last week Kevin and I went to Vegas to see the Lion King. Kevin found a really good deal tehat got us 2 tickets to the Lion King and 2 nights at Mandalay Bay for super cheap, so we just had to do it. Thanks to my mother-in-law and my friend Becky who each took a pair of kids for a few days. Obviously we could not have done it without you.
The first night there we saw the Lion King. Our seats were not awesome, but the show was fantastic and definetly worth seeing. The next we met up with my Aunt Rosanne and Uncle Tom for dinner. I have not seen them in like 20 years (or more), so it was so great to be able to catch up. We had a fabulous time.
We also spent a lot of time eating. (When you don't gamble and drink, what else do you do in Vegas?) And of course we had to check out some of our favorite hotels and places on the strip. Oh and I can't forget...we went bowling. And lets just say it was embarrasing. I went in all cocky, thinking "I'm in a league now, I am finally going to be able to beat my husband at bowling." Let's just say I didn't. O-well maybe next time.

Every year we take a trip to the pumpkin patch and pick our own pumpkins. This year we grew our own, so the pumpkin patch was our back yard. They aren't the biggest pumpkins I ever did see, but they are round and orange and the kids thought they were fantastic. (We can always pick up a few larger ones at Wal-Mart for carving.)
New Lens
We are pretty excited about our new camera lens, I had to take it to Tanner's soccer game to try it out. I am not a camera smarty pants, so I don't know the lingo, but it is a zoom lens but also a normal lens, all in one. Actually I don't know if it is that great but it zoom is 18-250 mm (whatever that means). All I know, is that when I am far away I can actually take pictures and Tanner doesn't look like an ant running on a field.
I don't think my kids have been born with that natural athletic ability, but they like soccer and it gets them outside running around, so we'll take it. Tanner has shown improvements this year. He has been a little more aggresive, but he still has a ways to go. I am such a mean mom and I don't buy him a new uniform every year. I do think his shorts are getting a little short, maybe next year I'll spring for a new pair.
